Thank YOU for making Oxfam Trailwalker 2018 a great success!
Dear Oxfam Trailwalker,
Oxfam Trailwalker (OTW) 2018 successfully concluded on 18 November! A big congratulations and thank you to you, your teammates and support team members who have taken part in the event! Your every effort has contributed to the success of this event which helps raise funds to improve the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable! We sincerely hope that you and your teammates will spend a few minutes to watch the following video to learn about Oxfam’s projects in Hong Kong. We also hope that you can share this video with your family, friends and supporters to let more people know the true meaning behind the OTW!

This year, 4,866 walkers (1,219 teams) set out from the Start Point in Pak Tam Chung! A total of 4,228 walkers overcame the challenge of 23 hills and completed the 100 km trail within the 48-hour time limit, representing 87 per cent of all walkers. It was encouraging that 873 teams reached the Finish Point at Yuen Long in full teams of four members, which is about 72 per cent of the total number of teams. Congratulations to everyone!
The first team was ‘8024 – Gone Running-Joint Dynamics’, which finished in 11 hours and 53 minutes. ‘8003 – AWOO Team Nepal’ crossed the finish line next in 12 hours and 8 minutes, while ‘8124 –Team 2XU’, finished in 13 hours and 10 minutes. Congratulations to all of these teams for achieving such extraordinary results! Please check other teams’ rankings on the OTW website.
OTW 2018 was only successful because of the dedication of everyone involved. We hope you felt the love throughout the event from your teammates, support team, sponsors, other walkers, more than 3,000 volunteers, more than 40 sponsors and supporting organisations, and from the staff at Oxfam too! This year, we would like to say a special thank you to teams that reduced waste and support teams that avoided driving along the trail. This helped keep the trail clean, and kept roads clear and caused less of an inconvenience for people in the vicinity and other road users. Thank you so much!
Change is never easy, to change for the better is even harder. During the 48 hours of the OTW, four people work to achieve one goal. Along the 100 km trail, teamwork and encouragement from CP volunteers and support teams play a key role in helping teams overcome all challenges and achieve this goal. As they train for the event and walk it, they not only transform but also transform the lives of those living in poor communities.
