Route

Please note: Start Point, Checkpoints 1 to 9 and the Finish Point remain unchanged, but there will be major changes to the arrangements at individual checkpoints and Finish Point. Please read below information in detail, thank you for your cooperation! This year there is NO parking at the Finish Point.

 

The 100 km trail starts from Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung and finishes at a new site at the Leadership Training Hostel Campsite, Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp in Yuen Long.

 

The route covers sections 1 to 9 of the MacLehose Trail, which is about 88 km (M001 – M174). After passing distance post M174 and leaving CP9, the route leaves the MacLehose Trail and travels 5 km along a country trail to the north coast of Tai Lam Chung Reservoir. The trail then turns right along a paved road towards Wong Nai Tun/Tai Tong and heads towards the Leadership Training Hostel Campsite, Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp in Yuen Long.

 

The marker posts of OTW175 – OTW196 and the countdown flag will be set up by the Organiser for identification.

Transportation Arrangement

  1. Transportation to Start Point

Due to the limited parking spaces in Pak Tam Chung and new paid parking meter has been installed, and a large number of people there that morning, we strongly recommend participants and support teams to take public transport to Pak Tam Chung. If you must drive, please park your vehicle at Sai Kung Town Centre, then take public transport to Pak Tam Chung.

Please note:

Pak Tam Chung Country Park Barrier at Tai Mong Tsai Road will be temporarily closed 15 minutes before and after each of the three starts at 0800 hrs, 0930 hrs, and 1100 hrs on Friday, 24 February 2023.

Cars illegally parked at the Pak Tam Chung public car park or nearby might be prosecuted or towed away. Please also refrain from occupying parking spaces as this is prohibited and action will be taken by the police.

 

  1. Closure of carpark at CP3 (Kei Ling Ha) during event

Shui Long Wo carpark (next to CP3) will be closed from 22:00 on 23 Febraury to 03:00 on 25 February. Vehicles are prohibited from waiting or parking there; vehicles will only be able to drop off passengers or unload goods there. Parking and loading / unloading is NOT allowed around the entrance of CP3.

 

The Organiser asks for your cooperation so as to minimise the traffic congestion connected with Sai Sa Road and Yung Shue O Road; parking is prohibited around that area. Please park your car at Sai Sa Car park area, however, the parking slots are very limited. Also, support teams and public are strictly prohibited from lighting fires or barbecues within the car park area.

 

On the other hand, police will enforce traffic control along Chuk Yeung Road (between Shan Liu and Wong Chuk Yeung) from 13:00 on 24 February to 03:00 on 25 February

 

  1. Parking strictly forbidden at Shatin Pass during event

Shatin Pass Road is a popular place for support teams to provide materials and encouragement to teams during the event. However, this has created heavy traffic in the area and parking problems, which has affected local residents and could prevent medical staff from accessing the area should an emergency arise. As such, police may implement traffic control near MacLehose Trail Distance Post M101, and the intersection of Kwun Ping Road and Shatin Pass Road. Support teams are strongly advised NOT to drive to the aforementioned area. Thank you for your cooperation.

 

  1. CP6 (Smugglers Ridge Rifle Range): Temporary traffic control

Golden Hill Road (Kam Shan Road) will be temporarily closed during the OTW from 13:00 on 24 February to 18:00 on 25 February. Please note that unauthorised vehicles (except the Organiser’s vehicles), including mountain bikes, will not be allowed to enter Golden Hill Road. Support teams are strongly advised to take public transport to CP6 instead of driving.

 

  1. CP8 closure of Tai Mo Shan Road

Tai Mo Shan Road will be temporarily closed during the OTW from 16:00 on 24 February to 04:00 on 26 February. Please note that unauthorised vehicles (except the Organiser’s vehicles), including mountain bikes and taxies, will not be allowed to enter. Support teams are strongly advised to take public transport to CP8 instead of driving.

 

  1. Finish Point (New): Leadership Training Hostel Campsite, Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp, Yuen Long

As there is a lack of parking facilities at the Finish Point, no parking permit will be issued to teams. Participants or support teams can take the shuttle bus service provided by the Organiser to Tai Tong Shan Road Pavilion (entrance of Tai Tong Organic EcoPark) and Yuen Long MTR station or take the public transport to leave Yuen Long. Detail are as follows:

 

Shuttle bus service

From 18:00 on Friday, 24 February to 12:00 on Sunday, 26 February, the Organiser will provide a free shuttle service to Yuen Long MTR station.

Finish Point to and from Tai Tong Shan Road Pavilion (entrance of Tai Tong Organic EcoPark), and Yuen Long MTR station (Long Ming Street)

 

If participants choose the leave the Finish Point by public transport, please see the information below . (For the bus schedule, please refer to schedules operated by various transportation companies)

MTR Feeder Bus (K66) or Mini Bus (Red) Walk about 20mins from the Finish Point to the bus stop at the      Route is along Tai Tong Shan Road and then take public transport to Yuen Long town and leave Yuen Long by other means.
Taxi (Green) Take a taxi at the entrance gate of the camp site to Yuen Long town (fee: around $60)

 

By Car

 

Please note:

There are no parking spaces in the event venue. Unauthorised vehicles will not be allowed to enter (except working personnel vehicles) and no parking permit will be issued by the Organiser. If anyone would like to park your car, please use the parking space at your own cost at Tai Tong Organic Ecopark, Car Park($80 per day), subject to the price onsite, then take our shuttle bus at Tai Tong Shan Pavilion or walk about 10mins to the Finish Point.

 

The Organiser asks for your cooperation so as to minimise the traffic congestion around the Finish Point and Yuen Long town and any inconvenience made to the local residents. We strongly advise everyone to please always pay attention to road arrangements and obey traffic rules. Tai Tong Shan Road will be temporarily closed during the event. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate all your support and understanding!

On the other hand, shower facility and paid kiosk(limited period) is available at the Finish Point however, no accommodation or bag drop service will be provided.
