LITTER FOUND DURING OXFAM TRAILWALKER 2018

Oxfam Hong Kong is grateful for the cooperation of participants and their support teams for keeping the trail clean.

However, Hong Kong Hiking Meetup, which volunteered to clean up the trail after the event, found a small amount of trash that had team numbers marked on them. According to event regulations, teams whose litter is found on the trail will have their team numbers and names posted on the OTW website.

We hope all teams will discard their litter properly in the future, or if taken home, ensure that it is put away properly so there is no chance of losing it on the trail. Walkers can also choose to use reusable/recyclable containers to reduce the amount of waste that is produced.

We would like to once again thank all the volunteers at Hong Kong Hiking Meetup for their invaluable help during the event.

Note

It is worth mentioning that food packaging from OTW 2017 (pictured above) was found on the trail during this year’s event. This clearly illustrates the fact that discarded trash will not simply disappear over time, and it will in turn harm the environment.

As such, we hope all walkers and support teams will work with us to keep the OTW green, show the Green4 Trailwalker spirit and protect our country parks so that future generations can also enjoy them.
