We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you all once again for being so understanding of our decision to postpone Oxfam Trailwalker (OTW) 2020.

Although there remain many uncertainties, but the OTW is about not giving up easily and working as a team and persevering in all circumstances to achieve a common goal. That’s why, like our theme, we will ‘Keep on Trailwalking’ and will try our best to make OTW 2020 (in January 2021) successful.

Our primary concern has always been the safety of our walkers, their supporters and our volunteers. And after weighing various options and evaluating different factors, including the season, 29 to 31 January 2021 is the only time slot available for us to hold the 100 km event continuously for three days and two nights.

We understand you may be concerned about the uncertainties that might affect the event in January; that’s why we have three options for you to choose from. Please discuss these with your team members before replying us through our online form on or before 30 September. Once we receive every team’s replies, we will give the remaining team slots to teams on the waiting list.

The three options are:

1. Join OTW 2020 (29 – 31 Jan): If things go as planned, all arrangements will remain the same. Should OTW 2020 (in January) be cancelled due to the adverse weather and/or other unpredictable factors, teams can obtain a refund for the registration fee, however the donation will not be refunded. Teams that have raised over HK$7,600 in sponsorship will be offered a team slot for OTW 2021.

2. Not join OTW 2020 (29 – 31 Jan 2021) but join OTW 2021 (tentatively scheduled for 19 – 21 November 2021): Teams can choose to obtain a refund for the registration fee. Teams that have raised over HK$7,600 in sponsorship will be offered a team slot for OTW 2021.

3. Neither join OTW 2020 nor OTW 2021: Teams can choose to have their registration fee and sponsorship refunded.

There are slight differences between these options for different team category. For more details, please refer to the Organiser’s email sent out to all the walkers on 15 Sept 2020. Thank you for your attention.

The latest arrangement of OTW 2020 (in January) as below:

Over the past few months, we have been working out various event details and mitigation measures. These include rescheduling the event’s important dates, new starting time, Start Point and Finish Point locations, change of team member period, team withdrawal details, rearranging dates for the online briefing sessions and collection of event information and gifts. For more information, please see the points below. We hope everyone of you could understand and work with us.

 

1. Team number and new starting times

To ensure all teams can maintain a safe distance, all teams’ starting times will be re-arranged. According to teams’ existing team numbers, teams may have a new starting time; details will be announced later.

 

2. Change of Start Point and Finish Point

Due to the postponement of the event, the registration area at the Start Point will move to the Pak Tam Chung P.H.A.B. Site in Sai Kung and the Finish Point will move to Tai Tong Barbecue Area in Yuen Long. Details will be announced at a later date.

 

3. How to change your team members during the following phases:

3.1 Teams that have carried their team slot forward to OTW 2020 (29 – 31 January 2021) can make changes to their team members, including their team leader, before the deadline (22 December 2020) for changing team members.

3.2 The Late Change of Team Member Fee is non-refundable. It cannot be regarded as a donation and is not tax deductible.

 

4. Notes on team withdrawal after 30 September

Registered teams that wish to withdraw from the event must give Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK) written notice on or before 30 September. This will enable waitlisted teams to take up your spot. Please note the following for withdrawing from the event:

*OHK reserves the right not to accept applications for future OTW events from any member of a team who has failed to comply with the above stipulations.

 

5. Briefing Sessions

For the safety of all, OHK’s three briefing sessions will take place online this year. We strongly advise all first-time walkers and their support team members to attend the briefing session. The enrolment details will be announced later.

6. Collection of OTW Event Information and Gifts

Please note that teams which have carried their team slot to OTW 2020 (29 – 31 January 2021) can collect the event information and gifts from our office. This year, each team will receive 4 Ultra-slim Running Waistpacks from sponsor Columbia instead of Quick Dry T-shirts. Each team is only entitled to four waist packs (even if there are subsequent changes to the team).
